James  Gilberd was born in 1963, and currently lives in Wellington, New Zealand with his artist wife Denise Durkin and their cat Leo.  He is a professional photographer by day…. Running a very successful photography gallery from 37 Courtney Place, in Wellington City, called Photospace.

This gallery is one of New Zealand’s few specialist photographic art galleries. His hobbies include playing the drums in various bands over the years, from the post-punk era (1981) to his current band, Kosmo-0, paranormal investigations, and authoring several books

He is co-author with Jo Davy of a  book called : Spooked: Exploring the paranormal in New Zealand
